A small warning

One thing a prospective newbie to second life should know is that sex is indeed a large part of sl. I've actually heard estimates that 30% of the second life economy is related to sex.

BDSM in particular seems to have taken a strong foothold in-world. The number of bondage sims and fetish clothes suppliers I've come across is mind-boggling. In fact I found my first in-world relationship through one.

I was exploring a bondage sim out of curiosity. I figured I was safe cuz it was pretty empty. But I ran into a few people engaging in a role play around an outdoor bar. I was too curious to just leave so I decided to sit in and observe.

Soon I was invited to join by a "noble" and while fending off the guys advances i became fast friends with a woman who I shall call C. She helped me out with my questions about the sim and how things worked there. Soon she had me onthe dance floor and asked me to be her servant in the sim. I couldn't resist my curiosity and decided to go along with it.

The relationship didn't last long but i still visit the sim and made some great friends there.

But you shouldn't think that sex is all there is to sl. My links off to the side of this blog include the 2 best second life travel guides I've found.

The Mermaid Diaries belongs to Natalia Zelmanova, owner of Sirena hair and fashion in-world, and the first ever Miss Second Life. She seems to be one of the most prolific explorers in sl and leads newbies and fellow explorers to fun and interesting places with free stuff to do and little to no sex.

Not possible in real life is owned by a group of explorers dedicated to finding things that would be impossible (or close to it) to duplicate in real life. This leads to some spectacular sights that shouldn't be missed.

So come and play. In second life there's something for everyone.
